For more than 10 years, the Europa-Institut has been hosting an European Summer Course (ESC) in cooperation with the Europäische Akademie Otzenhausen. Due to the pandemic, the ESC was held online.
The main focus of the ESC was the Corona-pandemic and its consequences on the European internal market and human rights. The chair of Prof. Giegerich is happy to contribute to the ESC.
Prof. Giegerich held a lecture on „Human Rights Protection in Times of Crises“ in which he gave an overview about European human rights law in times of crisis.
Afterwards, the participants were divided into smaller groups and discussed specific areas with one of the research assistants of the chair. The following topics have been discussed:
- Vaccinations (Karoline Dolgowski)
- Curfews and Quarantines (Katharina Koch)
- Schoolclosures (Julia Jungfleisch)
- Business and Human Rights (Dennis Traudt)
- Vulnerable groups (Anna Kohte)
